Close to 2,000 joined "Lakat… Dalagan Para sa Kaparian," a fun walk/run held on March 2, 2013.
Spearheaded by the Commission on Clergy, the activity was organized to help raise funds for the construction of a retirement home for the Capiz clergy.
In his message to the participants from different parishes and mission stations, business and civic groups, Catholic schools and the Archdiocese's minor and major seminaries, Capiz Archbishop Most Rev. Jose F. Advincula, Jr. D.D. said the faithful have an obligation to look after their priests.
Speaking in the dialect, he said, "A priest comes from a family. But because of his duties, he cannot raise a family of his own. He has no wife, no children of his own. We believe, however, that a priest is a member of every family, every home. Through his apostolate, he takes good care of his spiritual children. And as these spiritual children look after their elderly parents, it is our ardent wish that they also look after our priests when they get old and ill."
The nearly two-kilometer walk/run began from the Roxas City Plaza, and ended at the St. Pius X Seminary grounds in Lawa-an, Roxas City. A short program to launch the Archdiocese's website followed./jpc
